And Now My Watch Begins: The Game of Thrones Re-Read

Nov 4, 2015 | Books

I love GRRM.

I’ve read the entire ASOIAF series and the Dunk and Egg novellas. I love his writing, even his unorthodox disdain for whether his characters live or die. I really like watching interviews of GRRM on Youtube and seeing his perspective on why Game of Thrones is the way it is.

However, now that the show has caught up with the books, it’s really getting harder to wait. Especially with that cliffhanger at the end of season 5. So this fan has decided to re-read the entire series, this time picking up on some of the finer details the people are Reddit are so fond of spotting. I plan to finish this before GRRM comes out with the sixth installment of the series, The Winds of Winter.

Speaking of Reddit, people there have taken to analyzing Game of Thrones food and its taste and temperature in a valiant effort to stave off the boredom. I swear, Game of Thrones fans are crazy. So much tinfoil-y theories on Reddit that you can’t help but subscribe to a choice few. I am a fervent believer of R + L = J, Cleganebowl and that by the end of the series, the Wall will most definitely fall.

Despite working a billion hours a week, I always carve out the time to read books. At this point, I really have no choice in the matter since I can’t fall asleep without reading a couple of pages. Do not underestimate that time in the night when you’re tired and winding down. That’s the best time to read a couple of pages. Try to read a couple of chapters a night, you’ll be surprised to find that you’ve finished that book you’ve been meaning to finish since EVER.

I want to work my way through the series too but that will have to wait. I’ll be posting an update here on when I’ll finish each book, starting with Game of Thrones of course.

Also, GRRM has delivered a masterclass in breaking a fan’s heart. Ugh, I’ll never get over it. See pic below. 🙁
